Woody Plant and Habitat Diversity, Relative Abundance and Utilization

This book is the output of field study, executed in 2009 on Bahir Dar Blue Nile River Millennium Park (BDBNRMP) at the upstream of Blue Nile River from its source Lake Tana up to Blue Nile fall. It describes spectacular natural face, diverse composition and structure of vegetation, apparent and potential threats and causes on woody plants, habitats diversity, utilization systems, challenges and restoration potentials. The impressive investigations of 136 species of woody plants in 68 families, 13 endemic and 14 indicator plant species with scientific and vernacular name and 7 distinct habitats, various utilization systems and causes for threats strongly linked with traditional pattern of life. The book explains natural areas as reservoir of diverse plant species require protection, community experiences to mitigate deforestation with their contemporary conservation and utilization limited capacity. Moreover, Human induced pressure trend (in the last 100 years), degree of pressure, threats continuity in the future and possibility for rehabilitation to its nearly natural state if appropriate measure is taken on time discussed in the book may gives pivotal information to the readers.
