Sustaining Services and Supports

How can the services and supports for individuals with disabilities and their families be sustained? The Community Living Restructuring Fund had $ 24 million to provide creative initiatives and innovative projects for more choice for individuals living with developmental disabilities and their families. As of July 2005, the funds were expended.This book examines how the positive aspects of the funding can be sustained to provide significant learning in terms of how community partners benefited the community in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The findings validated the benefits of implementing ongoing supports and services for these individuals and their families.In my past role as a consultant, I had many opportunities to learn, observe, and participate in informal conversations, dialogues, and interviews which added immense value and insight into the publishing and content of this book. This book is a helpful to all persons involved and/or impacted to disabilities as it provides a segue to enhance discussions, explores options and provides recommendations in maintaining the vital supports and services for individuals with disabilities.
