Quality of Life for Adolescents

Good mental and physical health during adolescence §is important for successful transition into §adulthood. The lifestyles adopted by adolescents §often continue into later years and influence their §long term prospects for health and well-being. The §broader views of health determinants from a Quality §of Life (QOL) perspective direct attention to these §factors and shows promise for enhancing the physical §and mental health of adolescents. This book §describes a longitudinal study investigating QOL for §adolescents with and without a chronic condition and §its influencing factors over a six-month period. It §also quantifies variations in QOL patterns with §respect to the relevant risk and protective factors. §The results should enhance our understanding of the §effects of the broader determinants of adolescent §health through a QOL perspective.
