Ever more research is engaged in understanding corruption. But we still need more knowledge about which areas in society itaffects, and how institutional and contextual conditions influencecorruption and the risk of corruption. Moreover, countries regardedas among the least corrupt have seldom been examined. This bookaddresses these gaps. It employs a multi-method approach thatcombines case- and variable-orientated strategies to studycorruption and corruption risks in the public sector in Sweden, acountry that the literature regards as having few problems of thistype. The empirical studies are conducted using a comparative logicand with an eye to international comparisons. The study draws upona range of data, such as surveys, newspaper articles and primarysources, including legal documents and a large number of personallyconducted interviews. This book is relevant for scholars, studentsand practitioners with an interest in corruption risks inrepresentative democracy in general and the public sector inparticular.
