The investigation improves understanding of the§atmospheric transport of ground-level ozone (O3)-a§reactive oxidant-by better describing its§climatology, particularly for the mid-Atlantic§region. Hourly ozone data-from the Environmental§Protection Agency's (EPA's) Aerometric Information§Retrieval System database-and hourly weather§data-from the Northeast Regional Climate Center,§which archives weather data from the National Weather§Service stations-are used in the investigation. I§show how climatic factors influence the spread and§transport of ozone in Delaware and its neighboring§states. Maps of the spatially interpolated variables§are used to depict spatial patterns and variability.§Findings suggest that sea-level pressure, wind speed,§cloud cover, relative humidity, and air temperature§influence significantly the concentrations of ozone§in the mid-Atlantic region.
